Hoglund Brain Imaging Center, Kansas City, KS.

MRI scans for the joint injury research are taken at the Hoglund Brain Imaging Center at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. HBIC houses a 3T Siemens Allegra head-only MRI system that is capable of high resolution structural and functional MRI, MR spectroscopy, and diffusion and perfusion imaging. Complementing this human system is a 9.4T Varian MRI system for animal studies. HBIC is presently the only facility in the world with capabilities for whole-cortex adult magnetoencephalography (MEG) and high-density fetal MEG.

Kansas Neurological Institute - Topeka, KS.

Evaluation of the dynamic seat cushion is being carried out in collaboration with the Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) located in Topeka, KS. The institute houses a state of the art pressure mapping system and has a specialized seating clinic. Equipped with its own workshop to build and test seat cushions, the institute houses approximately over 150 people, a majority of whom are wheelchair bound.

KU Natural History Museum.

We have had multiple collaborations with the KU Natural History Museum, most notably with Larry Martin, Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology department.  These studies are generally morphological (shape/geometry) based studies and in some cases include finite element stress analysis to evaluate the structure-function relationships in bones.

Dept. of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

The DVD-guided mental practice study is being conducted in collaboration with Drs. Wen Liu and Patricia Kluding in the Dept. of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at the KU Medical Center. The department has expertise and equipment for functional evaluation, including the InMotion2 robot in the Neuromuscular Research Laboratory.
